| Work Experience: | "November 2007 – Present Queensland (Australia) Area Manager Gold Coast I am currently employed as the Area Manager for the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia, and have complete control of all operations from Brisbane QLD to NSW and 50km into NSW, approximately 185000km2.The Gold Coast region is the most profitable and busiest region within Queensland with in excess of 200000t of asphalt being produced pa in a new 280t per hour batch plant. The operations consist of paving crews, a new 280t per hour batch plant operating 24hrs a day, a mobile plant, a trucking fleet, planing /milling /profiling operations, a workshop, laboratory, sealing (chip seal) and prime operations, administration and QA/QC staff. We are currently the major supplier of ex bin asphalt on the Gold Coast as well as the successful tenderer for a 2 year surfacing programme for the Gold Coast City Council for the second consecutive term. We are also the preferred paving company for many Civil Engineering companies on the Gold Coast. My duties include but are not limited to, commercial management, all estimating/tendering (Benchmark software), procurement, all operations, HR, recruitment, complete financial and budget control, equipment and asphalt plant R&M, P&L accounts, CAPEX, technical and specification compliance, project management, health, safety, environmental and legislation compliance, programming, planning, customer and client relationships and service delivery. I am a decision maker and a team builder and believe in getting close to the troops whilst maintaining senior management control and integrity. Mar 2004 – November 2007 Works Infrastructure (NZ) Asphalt, Surfacing and Laboratory Divisional Manager and Health, Safety and Environmental Manager. I was employed in New Zealand as a Divisional Manager for asphalt production, surfacing operations and an IANZ accredited laboratory. My roles have included but have not been limited to, recruitment, training, estimating, pricing, tender and attribute preparation, peer reviewing and final tender submission, managing contracts from inception to conclusion, analytical post contract cost reviews, material sourcing and procurement and sub contractor management. I have a technical background in new resurfacing processes (UTAs) and paving machinery development. I have worked on large resurfacing contracts including airfields, major highways and racetracks and on three major maintenance contracts. My role involved the management of three departments and building a new double drum asphalt plant. I had financial and operational control of all three departments as well as budget and business plan preparation and was accountable for the monthly and annual financial results. Total Staff 140 Sep 2001 – Mar 2004 D J Lewis Asphalt Services Self-Employed - Asphalt Manager I was working in London for the Ringway Group during the rebuilding of Trafalgar square for transport for London (TFL) employing several engineers on freelance contracts. I also owned and operated a fraud and surveillance company specialising in the investigation of theft and fraud within the construction industry, particularly the ready mix concrete and quarrying businesses, employing ex Special Forces operatives as surveillance experts. Apr 2000 – Sep11 2001 Mid Atlantic Region from Connecticut to South Carolina, USA Operations Manager I was in control of all sealing and surfacing operations covering a vast area. After flying back to the UK for a family holiday on September 11th 2001 we decided not to return to the States due to the terrorist threat. Jul 1999 – Apr 2000 Freelance Trouble Shooter and Asphalt Consultant Working world-wide as a consultant and trouble-shooter specialising in ultra thin asphalt paving techniques, training operatives and managerial staff. Apr 1987 – Jul 1999 Supervisor - Contract Manager - Operations Manager I started employment with Associated Asphalt Holdings after leaving the British Parachute Regiment in 1987, electing to work in the asphalt crews before taking a managerial / supervisory role to better understand the issues in the field and gain knowledge of the business.
