Position Title: PRINCIPAL APPLICATION ENGINEER (COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS)
Location: TOKYO, JAPAN
Reports To: <REPORTS TO TITLE>
Description: The incumbent will manage the technical aspects of the sales and applications support process directed primarily at customers whose primary business involves the development of software to be used in communication applications. Spend most of the time focusing on applying the company’s product capabilities to the development of communication applications (Signal & Image Processing, Real-Time Systems, Data Acquisition, DSP, etc.) in various industries (Communications, Electronics, Aerospace, etc.).
Responsibilities:
· Demonstrate knowledge during sales meetings, conference calls, public seminars, and in the development of complex product demonstrations
· Work with existing “power users” to answer their questions and assist them in the most efficient and proper use of the company’s products once deployed
· Provide technical pre-sales support and guidance to the company’s Japan Sales organization. Work as a team and assist the salesperson first, to understand and synthesize customer requirements, then explain the features and capabilities of the products and related third party products relative to their specific needs
· Prepare and deliver product presentations to customers and prospects during customer meetings and marketing seminars where large audiences exist. These “product–centric” sessions include, but are not limited to, live product software demonstrations and associated PowerPoint slide presentations. Many seminars include the use of integrated third-party products focused on building embedded systems
· Develop demonstration programs, application examples, and simulation models, which are generally used as support for a sales call or to make clear a solution relative to an application support assignment. These demonstrations include the use of products that allow for automatic code generation targeted at various embedded systems
· Analyze users’ problems to determine and implement the best computational approach. Assist customers with the use of product programs and models to solve specific problems
· Be accountable for project quality, timing and effort including the submission of trip or engagement reports as well as weekly activity reports

| Skills: |
Qualifications: The incumbent should possess excellent written and verbal communication (both Japanese & English) skills and proficiency in the delivery of presentations.
1. Advanced Engineering degree
2. Japanese descent
3. Experience in applying modeling tools to real-world communications engineering problems
4. Knowledge and skills in embedded systems development and C Programming, m-file programming, digital signal processing and analog communications systems, analog-mixed signal, scientific image processing, and real-time and non-real-time simulations
5. Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink/Stateflow or similar products
6. Specialization in modeling & simulation, communications systems, and experience in the applicable industries
7. Experience in performing computational analysis, modeling, and simulation tasks
Relocation: <NO/YES, description... Is working virtual an option?>
Travel: YES; 25 - 40% with trips no longer than two or three days. Generally throughout Japan, specific to various seminars, customer visits, etc. Some international travel is expected.
