Our client is one of the largest tannery companies in the world from New Zealand. To cope with the new business expansion in Asia, they are now seeking for an high-calibred candidate for the position of Sales Manager with their ovine division. Position Summary The Sales Manager is responsible for the global marketing of the ovine finished leather production. The Sales Manager will work with in the company policies and structure with the key objective to achieve agreed set objectives in respect to profitability and growth of the business. In this capacity he will work closely with and consult the General Manager on all major decisions including pricing, budgets and strategic direction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Motivate and lead sales staff using clear communication with simple but effective targets ensuring best utilization of resources. • Regular visits to key markets, for this year four trips to the USA, two trips to Europe have been budgeted. There is also a significant amount of domestic travel but the duration of these trips are usually a maximum of two days. • Responsible for the day to day servicing of key customers. • Work with and advise the General Manager of product development and market strategies to best fulfill the profit and volume objectives of the business. • Ensure that credit policy is strictly adhered to. • To identify and develop emerging markets, objective to spread geographical sales base with the aim of maximizing margin and reducing risk. • Continue to build and enhance the brand reputation of the company as a world leader in our field. • Investigate potential and put in place a strategy for the development of the domestic market. • Liaison with Factory Manager on monthly sales requirements and required ex factory dates. • Prepare weekly and monthly spreadsheets clearly outlining our forward order position • Is an active participant in the ovine senior management strategy team, objective to collectively set goals and initiates in respect to product development, market and processing strategies which will ensure the short and long term profitability of the business. • Ensure finish stock levels remain within budgeted guidelines. Supervisory Responsibilities • Preparation of weekly and monthly reports outlining sales forecasts, and forward order positions per customer / per product. • When available attend daily QA meeting to view non conforming product and product development samples. • For all program orders ensure we obtain customer signed quality reference skins. • In conjunction with the General Manager set and periodic review of budgets • Plan and direct sales visits. • Over view training and prepare and review career paths for sales staff. • Self motivation with a passion to succeed
Skills: • Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and leadership skills • Ability to work in and maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts and high pressure environment. • Good command of written and oral English • Whilst not imperative and in depth knowledge of garment leather is desirable.
