Job description:
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
•Must have detailed knowledge of and be able to operate the following:
oPumps and compressors
oRefrigeration equipment.
oControls and instrumentation
oCondensers and cooling towers
oEvaporators and cooling coils
oHeating and humidification equipment including boilers.
oWater treatment equipment (RO, water softeners, chemical treatment etc.)
•Perform refrigeration leak tests.
•Working knowledge of gas detection, monitoring and exposure limits.
•Conduct regular audits to ensure that equipment is functioning correctly and is properly maintained.
•Coordinate and supervise 3rd party vendors and contractors.
•Be the first level of contact during an emergency.
•Basic understanding of electrical systems including transformers generators UPS systems switchgear ATS.
•Good understanding of mechanical systems including building environmental and data centre cooling applications, chillers and air handling units.
•Work 12 hour rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
•Fire suppression weekly and monthly PM's and maintenance checks
•Provide direction to building technicians as needed when maintenance tasks require assistance.
•Assist HVAC technicians when required to perform tasks as directed.
•Other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
•General Education Level: Grade 12 Education
•Post secondary education: Building Environmental Systems (BES) certificate or equivalent
•Professional/Trade Designation: TSSA Refrigeration Operator B or A certificate
•Other requirements: Valid G-class driver's license
ADDITIONAL ASSETS
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook and the Internet.
•Good plumbing, mechanical and electrical competence.
•Follow lockout procedures for electrical & mechanical equipment.
•Knowledge of ticket-tracking system, such as Remedy.
•Knowledge of basic first aid and CPR
•Knowledge of Health and Safety policies WHMIS, confined space, spills procedure, fall protection
•Ensure records are kept and work orders closed in a timely manner
•Maintain housekeeping standards in building workshop area.
•Ensures that procedures are always followed and that appropriate approvals for critical work are in place before starting work.
•Initiate continuous improvements of systems and procedures.
•Ability to lift and handle heavy materials
•Ability to perform physically demanding and manually laborious tasks (heavy lifting, working on roofs, working outdoors in all types of weather, etc).
•Work well with all internal customers - maintain confidentiality.
•Multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
•Team player and willingness to take on new challenges
•Has sensitivity to confidential matters
•Excellent troubleshooting skill
